About The Giving Garden of Carrollton

Fresh produce from the garden - tomatoes, peppers, sunflowers, and more

The Giving Garden of Carrollton is a volunteer-powered community garden that has operated continuously since 2010, located behind Aldersgate United Methodist Church at 3926 Old Denton Rd, Carrollton, TX 75007. We grow fresh, organic produce and donate the harvest to neighbors in need through local food pantries.

Our Roots

After Aldersgate United Methodist Church relocated to its new property, the Reverend Woody Weilage communicated a vision for a community garden on the property in one of his Sunday morning messages in 2009. Church members formed a seed committee, which later merged with Keep Carrollton Beautiful, and a steering committee was established in October 2009.

Plans were laid out to kick off the building of Phase I's 18 beds on February 27, 2010. Over 100 volunteers came to help with this tremendous effort. Phase II's 14 beds were completed in June 2010. Volunteers collect produce from the garden beds each Saturday morning to benefit the needy in southern Denton County.

In 2017, a new nonprofit organization, Community Gardens Of Carrollton, was formed to replace Keep Carrollton Beautiful. This new entity focuses on educating the community on the benefits of community gardens and supporting groups wishing to start community gardens.
